And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Matthew 24:39-41
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
You can clearly see that the wicked and the just are together until the end of time. Now it gets even more interesting:
Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Luke 17:36,37
And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.
Luke records the disciples asking Jesus “Where, Lord?” – where will they be taken? To destruction. They will be destroyed and the birds of prey will feast on their bodies. Believe me, you do not want to be taken at the end:
So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
Matthew 13:49,50
And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
This is the first death of the wicked then living at the time. The angels will come and take the wicked from among the just still living on Earth when Jesus returns. The rest of the wicked that were already dead are still sleeping and are not raised. We will then meet the Lord in the air. And we will always be with Him from that point on!
The just are then taken to heaven to be with the Lord for a thousand years. Satan is left to wander the Earth for a thousand years with no one to tempt. Afterwards, the New Jerusalem comes back to Earth, and all the evil dead are raised. Satan rallies the evil dead, convincing them they can take New Jerusalem by force, and they attempt to take the holy city. Fire then comes down from Heaven and destroys them all. This is the second (and final) death:
And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
Revelation 20:7-9
And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
The Israelites had to live through the plagues of Egypt. But God protected them. Noah had to live through the flood. But God protected him and his family. It will be the same with the great tribulation and time of trouble at the very end. We will have to live through it. But God will protect us.
