Faith and works go hand-in-hand. A lot of the Christian world tilts too far to one side or the other. You’re not saved by works, however at the same time, faith without works is dead and useless. You need both. How can you tell a saved person from everyone else? “Ye shall know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:16).
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone…
James 2:17, 20-22
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
Jesus taught the same thing:
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
Jesus said why do you claim to know Me but don’t do what I say (keep My commandments)?
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 7:21-23
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
